was created to help parents get their kids out from behind the screen and into nature to safely explore the mystical and magnificent world of exotic edible mushrooms: how to safely hunt them in the woods, cultivate them in your own back yard, and even how to make them taste magnificent in the kitchen! If you consider yourself "mushroom obsessed," this site is the place for you!

We invite you on a journey of exploration of the world of exotic edible mushrooms with us. MushroomObsession.com frequently hosts two-hour training forays in the woods of the Pacific Northwest in the Fall. These are free (a small donation may be requested to cover meal costs). Or you can also connect with us during one of our national tours. About Me

My name is Larry Short and it’s my passion for hunting exotic edible mushrooms, and teaching friends and neighbors to do the same safely, that drives MushroomObsession.com. I retired from more than 25 years with the global nonprofit World Vision as a writer, technologist, and webcast host. Since retirement I have honed my hobby as a novelist and tutor for our local school district, as well as traveling through the U.S. and Canada in a quest for the most interesting mushrooms.
